Current Interns

ANYA KOPINJA:

Anya is a rising senior at Newton South High School in Massachusetts with a passion for public speaking, advocacy, and civic engagement.

As an intern with Sister District MA-RI, Anya is involved in research, phone banking, volunteer recruitment, and content creation. 

At school, Anya will be Co-Captain of the Debate Team and Co-President of her school’s chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union. She spends her free time reading, experimenting with recipes from around the world, and gardening.

SAKSHI MATRIPRAGADA:

Sakshi is a rising junior at UMass Amherst, studying Public Health and Public Policy with a minor in Information Technology. At UMass, she serves as a Student Ambassador for the School of Public Health and Health Sciences and is a core member of the Public Health Club.

As a Sister District MA-RI intern, she is involved in researching past and future candidates, participating in volunteer outreach, and managing social media.

In her free time, she’s an avid dancer, reader, and enjoys tackling the daily Wordle.

SYDNEY COZZENS:

Sydney is a rising junior at UMass Amherst, majoring in Political Science and Public Policy. At UMass, she is a part of Umass Democrats with a passion for engaging voters in local elections.

As a Sister District MA-RI intern, she works to campaign for selected candidates through phone banking. Additionally, she works to research candidates Sister District has worked with and helps manage the social media accounts. 

Outside of school, Sydney works at City Hall in the Treasurer's Department in the winter and as a camp counselor in the summer. She enjoys spending time with loved ones, getting ice cream, and doing crafts.

ARYA MILLER: 

Arya is a rising senior at Riverwood International high school in Atlanta, Georgia. She is a part of mock trial as an attorney and witness and an ambassador for Kollegio AI.

As a Sister District MA-RI intern, she phone banks for campaigns of democratic candidates and participates in volunteer outreach, and conducts research on candidates as well as project development.

In her free time, she enjoys fencing, hanging out with her dog, and cooking/baking!

NIKHIL BAWA:

Nikhil is a rising junior at The Harker School in California. He is on his school’s Mock Trial team and participates in Lincoln-Douglas debate, researching and arguing over various legal, policy-based, and philosophical topics. 

As a Sister District MA-RI intern, he contributes towards phonebankings, candidate and opponent research, and social media initiatives.

In his free time, Nikhil enjoys playing tennis, thrifting, looking for cool cars, and hanging out with friends!

DIKSHA MHATRE:

Diksha is a rising senior at Acton-Boxborough Regional High School in Massachusetts and is interested in advocacy, civic engagement, and public policy. She is the Student Council Treasurer and Co-president of the AB Social Equity and Justice club.

As a Sister District MA-RI intern, she supports the campaigns of candidates through phone-banking and volunteer outreach. She conducts research on candidates and prepares social media content.

In her free time, she enjoys reading, drawing, and watching the newest Netflix show.
